I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year break.
On Tuesday before New Year, the Bush Babies Society held the annual Zag Putter golf competition, followed by lunch and then the actual putting competition in the Main Bar. Eamonn McDonough and Varney Christofi won the golf pairs comp (34 entrants) with a fantastic 49 points! The Zag Putter was won with John White defeating numerous golfers and guests to the trophy. Rather fitting as John is a founding member of the Society. Many thanks must go to Brian McDermott for organising a super day.
On Sunday we held the first four ball draw of 2026. Sixteen players braved the icy conditions, enjoyed pastries and coffee before playing a Texas Scramble format. The winners were Malcolm Barnfield, Paul Clark, and Ian McNally. Again thanks for all the support shown and next draw is on 1st February so a date for your diaries already.
The Winter League has continued during the break although with reduced participants. The winner from the last Saturday in December was Sean Daniels and the first Saturday of January was Jack Newton. Well played to all entrants in 2025 and at just over halfway there’s still plenty of rounds left in 2026.
Finally, a couple of events to mention. The Burns Night celebration is on Saturday 24th January, promises to be a great night as always. Ticket Booking is available on IG. Quiz evening 1 (of 3) starts on 31st January so look to get a team together and prove your knowledge. Entry on IG also.
