The final weeks of my Captaincy are just flying by, and this was another week that will be added to the many superb memories from my year.

Starting with the September Stableford on Saturday - the overall winner was Gary Hampshire with 41 points, all results below.

Then on Sunday 54 of us headed to the Forest of Arden for my Captain’s away trip. It was a fantastic and unforgettable trip superbly organised by Danny. The championship course on the first day had more or less everyone saying they played well though didn’t score well, mostly due to the lightening quick greens or maybe the bunkers swallowing trolleys! And the back nine with dear spectating around the greens. The evening carvery meal was very good and then we all retreated to the bar afterwards to mull over the day’s golf and have one or two drinks!

Then Monday morning we played the second course, which was a little easier for some than others. A big congratulations to Rob Collet for winning the trophy this year and the overall prize of a new TaylorMade Hybrid. All results below, a massive thankyou to all who came, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did, so much so that I forgot to take any photos, so thanks for the ones I’ve been sent so far.

Then on the 6th we have our club President Iain Lanario’s President’s Day - sign up is open for the competition and tickets are available for the evening party, which promises to be a superb evening not to be missed.

Sunday the 7th is my final four ball draw as Club Captain, and to mark this, there will be a buffet breakfast from 8am, after which we will tee off at the slightly later time of 9:20am. Please sign up sooner rather than later so I have an idea of numbers to cater for.

Bit of housekeeping, please remember to remove your name from the tee sheet as soon as you know you can’t play, Saturday’s competition tee sheet must not be blocked out with people’s names who are not or were never playing. We are seeing a lot of three balls where there are four players on the sheet on a regular basis.

Please remember to shut the gates as you navigate your way around the course either by foot or buggy, this will hopefully deter pedestrians wandering through the field of play.

Danny and I are very much looking forward to playing our Captain and pro Challenges, which will culminate with which ever pair manages to beat us by the biggest margin, being invited to play a rematch at Royal Cromer Golf Club, please email Danny or myself and we can book you in.

As we are now underway for the season, a reminder that the 13th is the Captain’s Charity Hazard. If you go into the water then a donation into any of the buckets around the clubhouse will be gratefully received, if like me that does happen a little too often! Then an idea to see you through the year could be a one-off donation via the JustGiving Page of £10.
