The success just keeps coming for our Ranger’s team at the moment, with another convincing win, this time against West Essex, a real fine run of form, well done boys keep it up!
Last week was certainly one of the most enjoyable of my year so far, and a huge thank you to everyone who helped make it so memorable. After Captain’s Day for the women on Wednesday, I drove up to Norfolk ready for Thursdays PGA East Captain and Pro Challenge, played at Sheringham Golf Club, Danny and I teed off mid-morning, and certainly on Danny’s side some great golf was played. We finished the day level par on a round that finished in very windy conditions, then back to London ready for the Midsummer Madness mixed golf on the Friday - a really fun day and a special thanks to John White for organising it so well.
On Saturday I was at the Club early to see the first group of the day tee off at 7am for Captain’s Day, then off to the hut to get the bar and snacks ready, then it was nice to drive around the course making sure you were all suitably hydrated, I even ran out of beer! However, we did have ice cold half pints of numbers (1664) on tap at the 13th, perfectly served by Sue Nugent and my wife Hannah, with another pint waiting as players came off the 18th.
There was a real buzz around the Club all day, and the evening’s entertainment didn’t disappoint either. Debbie and the team did a fantastic job of decorating the clubhouse and tables in the restaurant. When I arrived to see a patio full of people dressed in white, I knew the evening ahead was going to be great fun. On that front a couple of special mentions – Graham Evans as the sharpest and best dressed of the night, and to my neighbour who came along and didn’t tell his wife it was a white night, (she looked stunning in her red dress though!), The jazz singer on the patio was a great start to the evening and kept people entertained, whilst the first dinner sitting took place, and the main event with the “Jars” was superb, taking us into the early hours of the morning. They even dragged Hannah and her sister Sarah up to sing backing vocals to Mustang Sally! All in all a wonderful day and night my thanks also to Roy and his team, the food was superb and the bacon rolls at 23:30 were definitely needed to soak up the drink!

I’d like to see as many of you as possible at our Club’s 130th year celebration. We have golf in the morning and afternoon each followed by food if required and a disco in the evening, come and help us celebrate this great milestone in our Club’s history on July 11th.
A bit of housekeeping; when you enter a card for handicap purposes, please try your best to make the scores or strokes as legible as possible, every effort will be made to decipher them, but they will be voided if they are too difficult to read.
Danny and I are very much looking forward to playing our Captain and pro Challenges, which will culminate with which ever pair manages to beat us by the biggest margin, being invited to play a rematch at Royal Cromer Golf Club, please email Danny or myself and we can book you in.
As we are now underway for the season, a reminder that the 13th is the Captain’s Charity Hazard. If you go into the water then a donation into any of the buckets around the clubhouse will be gratefully received, if like me that does happen a little too often! Then an idea to see you through the year could be a one-off donation via the JustGiving Page of £10.
Happy Golfing
