Another great week for our club teams with the Rangers taking another convincing win, this time against Woodford.

Saturday was the Wally Gatwood Memorial Trophy, and the winner was one of our new members (and newly qualified for board comps) Kilian Stenning with a very creditable 41 points, congratulations Kilian on your first piece of silverware!

On Sunday fifteen pairs took part in the Maytime Greensomes, another well organised event by “Manet” and this was won by Christine and Paul Robertson, with a fantastic 47 points! With Andy and Carol Dodd in second with 44 points. A fun afternoon all round followed by a meal upstairs in the restaurant.

On Monday we had a great turn out for the divoteers’ evening, nearly 40 people started on the 8th and worked their way through 9, 10, 11, 12, and most of 2,3, and 4. Now, we just need a little rain to help all the new seeds grow! The reward for all their efforts was a delicious lasagne and salad cooked up by Roy.

Please be mindful on a Saturday that if you have booked a fourball and you know one of your group can’t play, make sure you remove them, so that any single players can then join in. There shouldn’t be single players on the course when there are gaps available on the main competition day of the week.

Now unfortunately a bit of a nag, please do not park in the disabled bays by the Pro Shop unless you have a genuine reason to use them. It stops those who are in genuine need of parking nearer to the clubhouse. Also, the two VIP spaces to the right of the clubhouse are not to be used by anyone other than the two members who kindly bought them in our charity auction.

A bit of housekeeping; when you enter a card for handicap purposes, please try your best to make the scores or strokes as legible as possible, every effort will be made to decipher them, but they will be voided if they are too difficult to read.

Danny and I are very much looking forward to playing our Captain and pro Challenges, which will culminate with which ever pair manages to beat us by the biggest margin, being invited to play a rematch at Royal Cromer Golf Club, please email Danny or myself and we can book you in.

As we are now underway for the season, a reminder that the 13th is the Captain’s Charity Hazard. If you go into the water then a donation into any of the buckets around the clubhouse will be gratefully received, if like me that does happen a little too often! Then an idea to see you through the year could be a one-off donation via the JustGiving Page of £10.
