With Guy away down under for a couple of weeks (working) it falls to me to continue the golf news from the club over the weekend and for the week ahead.
On Saturday and Sunday, we had the Holm Oak trophy, the traditional end of winter/ start of summer competition. With conditions on the course improving daily and the greens in great shape this was reflected in the scores posted and the enjoyment of coming off the course not covered in mud!
Some great scores were recorded from 26 pair entrants with the overall winners being Asa Lowther and Stephen Preston scoring an excellent 42 points (off 85% h/cap) and winning on countback from Matt Hunt and Simon Collins. The top eight pairs all beating or matching combined handicaps.
A special mention should go to Dave Boss for his three 2’s, on the 1st, 15th & 16th. Hope you were in the 2’s sweep!!! Well played.
The Sunday entrants (14) couldn’t quite beat the Saturday scores but well done to John Bayer and Allen Elwood with 40 points coming in on count back from Dave Hall and Rob Collett. Well done to everyone who entered across both days.
Next weekend’s competition is the first Medal of the summer season and the St James Place qualifier.
On Sunday we have the first mixed competition of the summer takes place, being the Brasted Trophy.
Please remember to add your name to tee sheet before playing on the course and happy golfing in the week ahead.
